General Plant Person

Reports To: Shift Supervisor
  1. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

 

•Pick up and empty plant trash into compactor per procedures for loading. Clean up around outside of compactor and facility as required.

 

•Cleaning, sweeping, painting, etc., of plant operating areas and equipment.

 

•Able to operate automatic floor scrubbing and/or sweeping equipment, including cleaning chemicals and charger.

 

•Obtain packaging materials and other supplies necessary for packing of rolls in the converting department.

 

•Print cartons utilizing the carton printing units. Operate the core imprinting equipment for making core ids.

 

•Return unused packaging materials or other supplies to proper storage locations.

 

•Wrap and band pallets of finished goods.

 

•Move skids of finished goods to specified locations.

 

•Assist packer and coaters as required on occasion by supervisor.

 

•Coagulate all waster liquids utilizing specified procedures for coagulation and water absorption with vermiculite or other absorbent specified.

 

•Blend film adhesives according to formulas supplied by the lab or supervisor, following proper procedure in accurate quantities in an orderly and clean manner.

 

•Pack rolls, stencil cartons, palletize cartons on skids and operate forktruck or other material handling equipment.

 

•Clean latex, batch and other storage tanks, when necessary.

 

•Other work assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

 

•Although not repetitive by nature, work performed by the general plant person requires frequent bending and lifting. Although a forktruck is used to handle specific heavy loads, the general plant person could experience maximum unassisted lifting of up to 100 lbs.
