A Fond Farewell to Our Summer 2018 Interns
As the summer winds down, ABI Tape is saying goodbye to our brilliant group of summer interns. This year, four talented students joined our Moorestown, NJ headquarters for a season of experience in the wonderful world of tape manufacturing.
Amanda joined the ABI Tape team for a Production Planning Assistant Internship, supporting production scheduling functions. Amanda will return to school as a junior with a major in Business Administration and Management at University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. Of her experience, Amanda says, “I got to see first-hand the operation and process of how a product starts, to the finished good that gets shipped to the customer. Not only did I gain the experience of working in an office setting, but I got to build relationships with the people in the manufacturing plant. It was great to see how both sides of the business come together to get the job done.” We hope Amanda can take what she learned interning in a global business environment and apply it to her future studies.
Oliver joined ABI as a Research & Development Intern for the summer, helping to analyze data with ABI’s in-house R&D team. Oliver was involved in the analysis of new films as part of a new film qualification project. “I really enjoyed getting to work with the R&D team on such an exciting project and I appreciate how willing they were to help me learn,” says Oliver. He returns to Moorestown High School this year as a junior.
Maddie and Siena interned together as a part of ABI’s Sales & Marketing Department, working closely with product managers, the sales team, as well as the in-house communications team. They analyzed our sample system to help improve the efficiency of our program, contributed to the ongoing development of a new website, and worked on individual projects specific to their studies in college.
Siena learned the process of planning and preparing a sales pitch. “I was able to work on a sales pitch in which I learned about the company’s product lines and how we market and sell our products. Through the project, I have developed personal and professional skills like public speaking and effective communication, which will surely benefit me in my career,” says Siena. Siena returns to Montclair State University as a senior majoring in International Business and Entrepreneurship.
Maddie researched and proposed a marketing and advertising campaign for the launch of a new product. “The projects I worked on have given me a feel for the importance of field research in targeting an audience and coming up with creative concepts, as well as improving my public speaking and time management skills, which are so crucial in the communications world,” says Maddie. Maddie returns as a junior at Rowan University, studying Public Relations, Advertising and Applied Communication with a minor in Psychology.
We hope that Amanda, Oliver, Siena and Maddie’s experiences at ABI Tape this summer have helped them gain valuable experience in their desired fields that will benefit them far into the future. We will surely miss their presence in the organization and wish them the best as they continue on in their studies.
