Process Engineer

Reports To: Engineering Manager
  1. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

As Process Engineer you will be responsible for reducing product and process variation using Six Sigma / statistical tools and the implementation and/or improvement of existing procedures and process controls. The PE function ensures that all products are manufactured per the manufacturing procedures and validated processes developed to meet our customers’ expectations. For design change projects, the PE participates in projects and leads sub-projects, which generally include verifications, validations, process optimizations, or test method development and managing the change associated. New investments include automation in our converting as well as process controls. The PE will support these ongoing automation efforts.

 

  • ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

•Support day to day product and process operations on coating and converting assets

•Support the quality management system through root cause and corrective analysis on external(complaints), vendor quality issues as needed, and internal quality issues.

•Provide support for new product development and material changes as required by engaging with procurement, commercial, and R&D teams

•Continually improve & optimize current products through variation reduction.

•Develop control strategies for sustaining all continuous improvement projects

•Provide ongoing process evaluation—including trials & capability studies

•Implementation of new equipment & operating procedures to improve capabilities, including automation efforts in converting and process controls

•Preparing technical training materials for instructing manufacturing personnel

•Scoping and executing capital projects

•Participating, leading, and sponsoring various task teams

•Assisting in the development of long-term strategies

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

•Well-developed team leadership skills with a comfort in leading multiple projects simultaneously.

•Experience with statistical analysis, statistical process controls, SPC, DOE, FMEA, and MSE.

•Automation implementation/support would be a plus.

•Ability to develop, implement, monitor, measure, and control functional improvement plans.

•Progressive problem solver with strong implementation skills who can anticipate potential obstacles.

•Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.

•Demonstrated ability to communicate and develop influential relationships at multiple levels within the organization and lead in a positive, collaborative manner.

•Approachable, effective in giving/receiving feedback.

•Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

•Strong PC skills MS Office, MINITAB, AutoCAD, QSI and QIS experience a plus.

•Previous ISO 9001-2015 experience with implementation, improvement, and sustainment.

•Previous Six Sigma exposure/experience. Green Belt / Black Belt certification a plus.

•At least 3 years of experience in operations, engineering, or a related field.

•BS Degree in an Engineering Discipline required.
