UL 181
Our UL 181 tapes have been rigorously tested to prove they are up for the job. Each product has been evaluated against a stringent set of standards to be UL Listed, a process you can learn more about in our previous blog here: The UL-timate Test: What It Means to Be UL Listed
This includes our Ideal Seal 2000, a UL181A-P/B-FX Listed aluminum foil tape. This listing means it has met the UL Standard for use on Class 1 rigid fiberglass ducts, flexible air ducts, and connectors to create a closed system, and is printed for identification and code compliance.
We also offer another UL 181A-P/B-FX Listed tape with Ideal Seal 587A/B. This is a thicker, 2.3 mil foil version of Ideal Seal 2000, manufactured and tested to meet the same standards.
Our other UL Listed tapes include the UL 181B-FX Listed Flex Seal™ 450, a hand-tearable polypropylene seaming tape used on Class 1 flexible air ducts. As well as the UL 181A-H Listed Ideal Seal® 490, a scrim-reinforced heat seal foil tape for use during fiberglass duct board fabrication.
Additionally, Ideal Seal 2000, 587A/B, and 490 are both 100% made in the USA with US-sourced components, making them compliant with Buy America and the Buy American Act.
Plain Foil
Ideal also offers a line of plain foil tapes, designed
for sealing seams,
joints, and connections on sheet metal duct, duct wrap, and board insulation. These tapes are zero-perm and provide a durable long-term bond to assure the integrity of the insulation system, so you can be sure your hard work will last.
Our plain foil tapes include Cold Seal™ 788, made especially for use in chillier environments thanks to the Cold Seal cold weather acrylic adhesive. Cold Seal 788 can be used in temperatures as low as 35 degrees Fahrenheit and is UL 723 Classified.
If you need a cost-effective solution, we also offer Ideal Tape 488 and 488S. These plain foil HVAC tapes are coated with aggressive rubber-based adhesive, are also UL 723 Classified and have been put to the test to ensure your installations stay secure.
FSK
When your project requires working with your HVAC system’s insulation, Ideal has you covered. We offer two FSK tape products built to seal seams and joints FSK-faced duct wrap and board insulation.
For your general uses, Ideal Tape 491 FSK is backed with a high-performance adhesive system, which delivers a permanent bond to FSK-faced insulation. Meanwhile, Cold Seal 791 FSK offers a more specialized performance, made with the same Cold Seal cold weather acrylic adhesive as our plain foil 788.
Like our plain foil tapes, both FSK products are also UL 723 Classified, and provide an aesthetically pleasing finished insulation system. Meaning you can count on these tapes to look just as good as they perform!
